Computer Chapter – IPO Cycle
B. Fill in the blanks
Data is entered through input devices.
Results are displayed on output devices.
A computer works on IPO cycle.
Working of a computer on the given data is called processing.
C. Write T for True and F for False
A computer has a huge storage capacity. — T
The mouse is an input device. — T
IPO stands for Input Pen Out. — F
A computer has zero IQ. — T
D. Answer the following questions
1. Define the terms input and output. Give two examples of each.
Input:
The data and instructions that we enter into a computer are called input.
Examples: Keyboard, Mouse
Output:
The result that a computer gives after processing the data is called output.
Examples: Monitor, Printer
2. Describe the IPO cycle with the help of examples.
IPO Cycle means Input – Process – Output.
A computer works in three steps:
Input: We enter data using input devices like keyboard or mouse.
Process: The computer processes the data inside the CPU.
Output: The computer shows the result through output devices like monitor or printer.
Example:
If we type 2 + 3 on the keyboard (Input), the computer calculates it (Process) and shows 5 on the screen (Output).
3. Explain any three characteristics of a computer.
Speed: A computer works very fast and can perform millions of calculations in seconds.
Accuracy: A computer gives correct results if the input is correct.
Storage: A computer can store a large amount of data.
4. What are the limitations of a computer?
A computer has no intelligence (IQ) of its own.
It cannot think or make decisions by itself.
It works only according to the instructions given by the user.
