Chapter 6: Teeth and Digestion (दाँत और पाचन)
1. Teeth (दाँत)
Definition (परिभाषा)
English: Teeth are hard structures present in our mouth that help us to bite and chew food.
Hindi: दाँत हमारे मुँह में उपस्थित कठोर संरचनाएँ हैं, जो भोजन को काटने और चबाने में सहायता करती हैं।
Functions of Teeth (दाँतों के कार्य)
Help in biting and chewing food.
भोजन को काटने और चबाने में सहायता करते हैं।Help us to speak clearly.
स्पष्ट बोलने में सहायता करते हैं।Give shape to our face.
चेहरे को आकार प्रदान करते हैं।Help in facial expressions like smiling.
मुस्कुराने जैसी भावनाओं को व्यक्त करने में सहायता करते हैं।
2. Types of Teeth Sets (दाँतों के प्रकार)
A. Milk Teeth / Temporary Teeth (दूध के दाँत)
Definition
English: The first set of teeth that appears in babies is called milk teeth.
Hindi: बच्चों में सबसे पहले आने वाले दाँतों को दूध के दाँत या अस्थायी दाँत कहते हैं।
Example:
Number = 20 teeth
Appear around 6 months
Complete by 3 years
B. Permanent Teeth (स्थायी दाँत)
Definition
English: The second set of teeth that replaces milk teeth is called permanent teeth.
Hindi: दूध के दाँतों के गिरने के बाद आने वाले दाँत स्थायी दाँत कहलाते हैं।
Example:

Start appearing around 6 years
3. Parts of a Tooth (दाँत के भाग)
1. Crown (मुकुट)
English: Visible part of the tooth.
Hindi: दाँत का दिखाई देने वाला भाग।
2. Root (जड़)
English: Part inside the gums.
Hindi: मसूड़ों के अंदर स्थित भाग।
3. Neck (ग्रीवा)
English: Region where crown meets root.
Hindi: जहाँ मुकुट और जड़ मिलते हैं।
4. Layers of Tooth (दाँत की परतें)
A. Enamel (इनैमल)
Definition
English: The outermost hard layer of a tooth.
Hindi: दाँत की सबसे बाहरी कठोर परत।
Example:
Hardest substance of our body.
B. Dentine (डेंटिन)
Definition
English: The layer below enamel.
Hindi: इनैमल के नीचे की परत।
Function:
Supports enamel.
C. Pulp (पल्प)
Definition
English: Soft inner part containing nerves and blood vessels.
Hindi: दाँत का मुलायम भाग जिसमें नसें और रक्त वाहिकाएँ होती हैं।

✔ Brush twice daily.
दिन में दो बार ब्रश करें।
✔ Use fluoride toothpaste.
फ्लोराइड युक्त टूथपेस्ट का प्रयोग करें।
✔ Avoid too many sweets.
अधिक मिठाइयाँ न खाएँ।
✔ Rinse mouth after meals.
भोजन के बाद कुल्ला करें।
✔ Use dental floss.
डेंटल फ्लॉस का प्रयोग करें।
✔ Visit dentist regularly.
समय-समय पर दंत चिकित्सक से जाँच कराएँ।
7. Plaque (प्लाक)
Definition
English: Sticky yellow layer of bacteria and food particles on teeth.
Hindi: दाँतों पर बनने वाली बैक्टीरिया और भोजन कणों की पीली चिपचिपी परत।
8. Cavities (दन्त क्षय)
Definition
English: Holes formed in teeth due to bacterial action.
Hindi: बैक्टीरिया के कारण दाँतों में बनने वाले छेद को कैविटी कहते हैं।
9. Digestion (पाचन)
Definition
English: The process of breaking food into simpler substances is called digestion.
Hindi: भोजन को सरल पदार्थों में बदलने की प्रक्रिया को पाचन कहते हैं।
